Panthers open for trading down from #1 overall?

Joe Person of the Athletic reports that with Carolina trading surprisingly well to No. 1 overall on Friday, "[the] Panthers now control the draft."

A source told Person that GM Scott Fitterer and HC Frank Reich of the Panthers have faith in "a few quarterbacks at the top."

With this in mind, a source told Person that the Panthers could potentially trade off the No. 1 spot overall "if they end up preferring more than one [midfielder]."

Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis all made a lot of noise to get to the first round earlier.

Many people seem to think that Young and Stroud are the most likely favorites to be picked with the #1 pick, but Richardson shouldn't be discounted, as some reviewers believe he owns the level. highest gain of any quarterback in this year's class.

It seems like the Panthers are open for business in general in the event that a team feels compelled to move forward and they can still get a potential quarterback they believe in an pick then.

That would be very risky and we've never seen a team trade to #1 only to then come back and trade options, but it's certainly something to watch for the next month and a half.

We'll have more information on the Panthers and #1 pick as we get the news.
